It was supposed to be a triumph, but it turned into a tragedy. World-famous archaeologist, Dr Cliffe Anger, and his trusty sidekick, Doug Bones, were set to reveal the location of long-lost Roman gold buried beneath Corbridge. But just hours before their press conference, they were found slumped in Cliffe's archives. Police have appealed for witnesses, but all they've received is stone-cold silence. How suspicious!
Upon closer examination of the crime scene, it was discovered that Cliffe's safe was broken into and the map to the Roman hoard was stolen. Could the cruel criminal be trying to claim the gold for themselves?
